Keyword Research
So how do you research your keywords? lets assume that its your own website that you wish to research your keywords for, so your well aware of the products/services your website offers, now, put yourself in the shoes of your potential or targeted customer, what would you search for when looking for what you offer? there is a big chance that the word or phrase that comes up in your mind is one of the keywords you should target in your onsite or offsite optimization. Make a list of these keywords.
Remember that the bigger the number of searches done for a particular keyword the harder it will be to rank for it, chances are you will find lots of competition and established websites already targeting that keyword, another thing to note is that very popular keywords aren't always the best choice, let me explain with an example, if your website offers high end Linux shared web hosting solutions starting at $15/month, you at first might be tempted to target the keyword "web hosting" or "shared web hosting" which is searched 131 times per day according to word tracker, while it would be great to rank for that keyword, you will be getting lots of useless traffic, allot of those who are searching for that keyword might be looking for a $2/month plan, or looking for Windows web hosting etc. your probably better off targeting "shared Linux web hosting" which is easier and will take less time to rank for, and will provide you with traffic with a high conversion rate.
After compiling a list of the keywords you think your customers will search for, use a tool to see how popular those keywords are, I usually use the free tool provided from digital point for keyword research. There are a number of other more accurate tools such as Wordtracker. Which isn't free but well worth it.
Now you've got a final list of the keywords that best suits your site, you should target those keywords in any onsite or offsite optimization that you do for your website. Pagerankincrease.com takes note of your target keywords when offering you its link building and page rank increase services.
